First, make sure you have your Hue Bridge and some wireless Hue light bulbs connected and installed. For help with this please visit the getting started page [www2.meethue.com/en-](http://www2.meethue.com/en-gb/what-is-hue/get-started/) [gb/what-is-hue/get-started.](http://www2.meethue.com/en-gb/what-is-hue/get-started/)

Then, make sure your bridge is connected to your network and is functioning properly. Test that the smartphone app can control the lights on the same network.

In the end, you need to discover the IP address of the bridge on your network.

You can do this in a few ways.

1. Use an UPnP discovery app to find Philips Hue in your network. Windows File Explorer is one such application.
2. Use internet server discovery process by visiting [www.meethue.com/api/nupnp](http://www.meethue.com/api/nupnp). You will get a JSON formatted reply, see an example bellow.
*Example: [{"id":"001788fffe15de46","internalipaddress":"192.168.1.230"}]*
3. Log into your wireless router and look for Philips Hue in the DHCP table.
4. Hue App method: Download the official Philips Hue app. Connect your phone to the network the Hue Bridge is on. Start the Hue app. Push link connect to the bridge. Use the app to find the bridge and try controlling lights. If all is working then go to the settings menu in the app. Go to My Bridge. Go to Network settings. Switch off the DHCP toggle. The IP address of the bridge will show. Note the IP address, and then switch DHCP back on.
