# Description and functions

#### The main purpose of this plugin:

1. Read the BaseID value of the existing EnOcean channel and store it in the CVC project.
2. Make and manage changes to the BaseID value of the EnOcean channel.

The EnOcean communication’s main principle is that the devices use unique IDs in their telegrams. Each EnOcean channel of the controller can send telegrams with 128 unique IDs.

The available ID pool for the EnOcean channel is 128 consequent values starting from the BaseID value. The actual value of BaseID is always mod 128 value in range &HFF800000 to &HFFFFFF80. The BaseID of the channel is preset in production, but in case of need, it can be changed. As it is standard by all EnOcean gateways: it is possible to make such a change max. 10 times by each channel! After reaching this count, no further changes of BaseID are possible! (This principle is common by EnOcean and was invented due to safety reasons – for details, see [www.enocean.com](http://www.enocean.com))

The change of BaseID can be useful in some special cases – most often when replacing controllers in an existing application. When replacing the controller with the EnOcean channel, the simplest way to make the system work again is to set the BaseID of the new controller to the value of the replaced one. This way, it can be ensured that all the outgoing telegrams will have the same IDs, so all corresponding EnOcean devices will work with these telegrams as they were with the original controller.

The change of BaseID can be done by this Plugin application as well as it can be used to read the current controller BaseID and store it in the CVC project. It is stored in the special Read only property of the controller. This way, the BaseID of the exact controller can be stored and kept in the project. There this BaseID value can be found whenever the need to replace the controller would appear!

So it is strictly recommended to store the actual value of BaseID of the EnOcean channel when finalizing any installation!

To start this plugin, just go to your project Configuration:

**Right-click the controller with the EnOcean channel in CVC Configuration and then select the Plugging item from the menu**.

Important note:

The EnOcean Setting plugin application is possible to use only if the controller with EnOcean port is online!

Note at this place that there is no need to use this principle in any case, but if not using it, then by change of the controller there simply would raise the need to go through the Teach-Learn process with all EnOcean devices which are to be controlled from the replaced controller.

#### Change BaseID-

Write a new value to BaseID of the EnOcean channel. There will be necessary to confirm the change several times to avoid occasional changes.

#### Save BaseID in Project-

The current value of BaseID will be stored in the CVC project in the read-only property “Base ID” of the controller.
