# Description

KNX Group Object DPT16 allows sending the text of up to 14 characters. The length is fixed to 14 octets. The contents are filled starting from the most significant octet. Each octet shall be encoded as specified by DPT Dimension. If the text to be transmitted is shorter than 14 octets, unused trailing octets in the character string shall be set to NULL (00h).

# WriteValue

This function transmits the KNX telegram, including the newvalue, to the group address defined in the driver property. This function returns True if the function success, else it returns False. A function GetLastError returns the error number that occurred while executing the command. #### Syntax

```visualbasic
Function WriteValue (
  newvalue As Text,
  Optional highpriority As Boolean := False) 
As Boolean
```

#### Parameters

newvalue

Text It is the text sent to the KNX bus. If the text length is longer than 14 chars, left 14 chars of text are used.

highpriority

Boolean Optional, defaults to False. If False, the command is applied with standard priority on the KNX bus. If it is True, the command is applied with a high priority on the KNX bus.

#### Return value

Boolean This function returns True on success or False if an error occurs. A function GetLastError returns the error number.

# GetValue

This function returns the text buffer address, where the group object's last value with the given address received from the KNX bus is stored.

#### Syntax

```visualbasic
Function GetValue() As AddressOf Text
```

#### Return value

AddressOf Text It is the last received value of the group object.

# OnUpdate

This event is raised when receiving the KNX telegram with the appropriate group address. It returns the Text value received from the KNX telegram.

#### Syntax

```visualbasic
Event OnUpdate As Process(newvalue As Text)
```

#### Parameters

newvalue

Text It is the new value received from KNX.
