Areas are hierarchical sections that form a tree structure and are used to assign resources and zones.

Areas contain floor plans that define their visual representation.

On a floor plan, you can place resources, navigation points, zones, and other elements, as well as define navigation.

In user applications, the structure is displayed as a breadcrumb trail:

If you use front-end applications, the tree structure typically reflects the prepared floor plans. A common example is a building structured by floors, corresponding to elevator floor numbering.

> ℹ️ When creating the structure and naming areas, consider the smartphone screen layout. Avoid **overly complex hierarchies** and **excessively long names**, as they may reduce readability.

### Where Areas appear:

- **in CUE Navigation**
  - As the primary enviroment in which you navigate along defined paths between the start and target points

- **in Cue Assist**
  - When selecting a resource for reservation using the *New Reservation *→* Floorplans* option
  - During the reservation process, in the *Location detail *of the selected resource
  - In navigation, accessible to authenticated users via the *Navigate* option in the side menu.

- **in Units**
  - If you use only panels, you still need to name your areas and assign resources
