### Resource overview

Resources are the **foundation stones** of CUE Solution. A **resource** is an object with an associated calendar that the system uses as a reservable target. It can also exist without a calendar if it is intended solely for navigation purposes.

Typical examples include meeting rooms, workspaces, parking spaces, reception desks, medical offices, shops, and other locations within a building.

Create a resource whenever a location or object needs to be managed individually within the system.

A Resource serves as a common foundation for:

- reservations and event management in CUE Assist,
- displaying resource details and filtering in CUE Assist,
- displaying and working with locations in CUE Navigation.

A Resource typically includes:

- identity (name, username, type),
- assignment to a location (Area),
- calendar integration via the API connection agent,
- availability and reservation rules,
- display metadata (capacity, description, features, images).

### Prerequisites for creating a resource

Before configuring resources, make sure that:

- the system has a valid [license](https://cue.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TAM/pages/777519114) for using resources,
- at least one [area](https://cue.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TAM/pages/18579464) representing a part of the building has been created,
- [resource types](https://cue.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TAM/pages/18579483) (such as Meeting room, Workplace, or Parking) have been created,
- if resources are to be imported from a calendar server, the connection to the calendar server has been configured,
- if resources are to be reserved through applications, the integration between the applications and the calendar server has been configured.

> ℹ️ **A Resource must exist in only one environment**. If the same Resource is used across multiple environments simultaneously, it may lead to calendar synchronization conflicts, such as unexpected changes or cancellations of events, inconsistent availability, and unstable booking behavior.

### Reservable and Non-reservable resources

This is the basic classification of resources used within the CUE environment.

#### Reservable resources

- are primarily intended for use within **CUE Assist**
- can be booked (either for the user themselves or for additional participants, depending on the license type)
- must have a Resource Standard or Resource Premium license assigned - see also [here](https://docs.cuesystem.com/space/LM/923500651/Resource+licenses%E2%80%8B)
- must either be placed on the map or assigned to a specific area
- must have a Connection Agent for API operations assigned
- In *CUE Admin* → *Application* → *Assist* → *Resources tab*, the assignment to CUE Assist must be enabled
- these are typically **parking places**, **workplaces**, **meeting rooms**, and similar resources

#### Non-Reservable resources

- are primarily intended for use within **CUE Navigation**
- can’t be booked
- must have a Resource Basic license assigned - see also [here](https://docs.cuesystem.com/space/LM/923500651/Resource+licenses%E2%80%8B)
- these are typically **shops**, **restaurants**, **doctor’s offices**, and similar resources
