This section is used to publish [news](https://cue.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/assist/pages/2767781926/CUE+Assist+Administration+Guide#News) and other useful information to users through CUE Assist.


## News – List

All news items are listed here, including their short description, publication date, priority score, visibility, and other information.

### Action buttons

#### QR CODES

The :qr: button prints QR codes for news items selected using the checkboxes in the first column of the list. This option is available only for news items with an assigned QR code.

> ℹ️ Creating a physical QR code allows it to be placed in a public area and scanned with a standard mobile device, including by visitors who are not logged in.

#### NEW

The :new:  button creates a new news item.

**General tab**

Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). 

The *Title*, *Short description*, and *Date* are displayed in the news overview on the CUE Assist Home page. *Banner color* specifies the color of the bottom border of the news item displayed there.

*Priority score* determines the order in which news items are displayed in CUE Assist. The higher the value, the closer the news item appears to the beginning of the list, with the highest-scoring item displayed first.

> ℹ️ This requires news items to be sorted by **Priority Score** on the Settings tab. If sorting by **Date** is selected instead, the most recently published news items are displayed first.

When selected, the *Show on title screen* option displays the news item on the CUE Assist login page. The news item must have its Visibility set to Public. 

> ℹ️ **Only one news item can be configured for display on the login page at a time.** If this option is selected for another news item, it is automatically cleared for the previously selected item, and the newly selected news item is displayed on the login page instead.

The *Visibility* setting determines where the news item is available in CUE Assist:

- **Public** – The news item is automatically displayed in the news list during the configured publication period. Users can open the news item to view its details.
- **Unlisted** – The news item is not displayed in the news list in CUE Assist. Users can access it only through a direct link or QR code.
- **Disabled** – The news item is not available in CUE Assist. It is not displayed in the news list and cannot be opened using a direct link or QR code. This option is useful for archiving news items or temporarily disabling recurring content until it becomes relevant again.

**Body tab**

On the Body tab, selecting the *Has detail body* checkbox displays a field for entering a more detailed description of the news item.

> ℹ️ Both the Body and the Title and Short description can be provided in multiple languages.


#### SAVE PRIORITIES and CANCEL CHANGES

The priority of news items can be changed directly in the *Priority Score* column of the News list. Selecting the corresponding cell makes the value editable. Changes made in the list must be saved using the  button or reverted using the  button.


## News – Settings

On this tab, you can configure a *Custom title* to be displayed as the name of the news section on the CUE Assist Home page and select how news items are sorted (ordered) – either by priority score or by publication date. 

Sort news by:

- **Priority score** – news items with a higher priority score are displayed first
- **Date** – the most recent news items are displayed first

Changes made on this tab must be saved using the :save: button.
