Points of Interest (POIs) are locations on the floor plan that users can navigate to and from.

QR codes serve as visual representations of URLs that link directly to the web application. They can be printed and placed as stickers on walls or other suitable locations within the space, or displayed on hardware devices such as units or kiosks.

Users can scan these QR codes with their mobile devices to quickly access the web application. In addition to launching the application, QR codes enable actions such as confirming reservations, starting navigation, opening News, and transferring directions from kiosks to mobile devices.

QR codes can also be [categorized](https://cue.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TAM/pages/777027585) by purpose (e.g. stores, services, elevators, entrances), enabling filtering and search.

> ℹ️ When creating QR codes, carefully consider their purpose, placement, and visibility. QR codes should be prominently displayed, easily accessible, and strategically positioned at key locations such as intersections, elevators, and entrances to support smooth navigation. It is also important to plan the required number of QR codes and ensure they are correctly assigned to maintain reliable and seamless navigation.

## Where users can encounter QR codes

#### **CUE Navigation**

After scanning a QR code with a smartphone, the selected location is set as the starting point in CUE Navigation.

#### CUE Assist

It serves as a navigation element or for event confirmation.

#### Units

It serves as a navigation element or for event confirmation.

## Use cases for QR codes

### Navigation point

QR codes can be used to uniquely identify locations such as rooms, workspaces, parking spaces, exits, elevators, or stairs. To enable this, place Points of Interest (POIs) on the map and assign QR codes to them. Each QR code should then be configured with the appropriate functionality based on its intended use.

A QR code can be intended for navigation only. It is typically placed in locations without an associated resource, such as stairs, elevators, or restrooms.

> ℹ️ **For navigation only:** Each QR code is assigned a unique numeric code (e.g. QR - 1220). This code can be used within the application as an alternative to scanning the QR code with a mobile device. In this case, the user manually enters the numeric code instead of scanning the QR code.

### Confirming reservations

QR codes assigned to specific resources (such as rooms, workspaces, or parking spaces) can be used to confirm reservations when confirmation is required for that resource.

> ℹ️ Note that a resource may have multiple POIs and associated QR codes (for example, separate codes for each entrance).

### Kiosk

When scanning a kiosk QR code, navigation automatically opens to the kiosk’s location.

In contrast, QR codes displayed on the kiosk are used to open a URL from the resource or POI detail on a mobile device.

> ℹ️ Each kiosk QR code must always be associated with a kiosk location.

### Unit

The QR code displayed on a hardware unit serves either as a navigation element or as a means of reservation confirmation.

> ℹ️ The unit can be placed on the floor plan. In CUE Navigation, the POI details display hardware information, including an online screenshot (e.g. for remote service checks).

### News** **

Scanning a QR code can open specific News content.

## QR code scanning scenarios

QR code scanning scenarios vary depending on whether the user is logged into CUE Assist and whether the resource is reservable.

The outcome of scanning a QR code depends on these conditions:
