QR codes are used to confirm events and/or to set the starting location in a building, triggering route recalculation to the destination in CUE Navigation.

When creating QR codes, carefully consider their purpose, placement, and visibility. QR codes should be prominently displayed, easily accessible, and strategically positioned at key locations such as intersections, elevators, and entrances to support smooth navigation. It is also important to plan the required number of QR codes and ensure they are correctly assigned to maintain reliable and seamless navigation.

> ℹ️ Printing QR codes and placing them throughout the building is essential for proper navigation functionality.

## How to set up the QR codes print properties

In the *Settings* tab, you can configure how the QR code will appear when printed, including the output format and the information displayed alongside the QR code.

### Highest QR code

Indicates the highest number among all created QR codes.

### Codes of QR codes and printing

- **optimize for code entry** - The QR code is printed exactly as it appears in the system, i.e. without leading zeros. For example, if there are 125 QR codes, they will be printed as QR-045, QR-112, etc.
The QR code entry field in CUE Navigation displays only the number of digits required to identify all existing QR codes. If the system contains 125 QR codes, users enter 3 digits (such as 005, 045 or 112).

- **optimize for future printing** - the QR code is printed with leading zeros to match the specified code length. For example, if there are 125 QR codes and the code length is set to 6, the QR codes will be printed as QR-000005, QR-000045, QR-000112, etc. Enter the required number of digits in the *Code length* field below.
The QR code entry field in CUE Navigation always displays the configured number of digits. For example, if the length is set to 6, users must enter values such as 000005, even if the system currently contains only 125 QR codes.

### Output

Selecting the CSV option creates an Excel file containing details of the QR codes along with the selected codes.

### Image output

Select the desired image format for the QR codes prepared for printing (.jpg, .png, or .svg)

- **Transparent background** - available for .png and .svg formats
- **Print also category icons** - when this option is selected, a separate file containing the icons associated with the QR codes is generated along with the QR codes

### QR code content

- **With URL address to CUE Assist app** - suitable for public areas (after scanning a QR code, users are automatically redirected to the anonymous CUE Navigation app if they are not logged in to CUE Assist)
- **Without URL address** - suitable for areas with security risks such as internal areas of banks, etc. (QR code scanning is only possible within the relevant application)

### **Displayed Data Settings**

- In the next part of the section, you can configure which information is displayed on printed QR codes for each QR code type (Common QR code, Resource, and News).
- Two panels are available: *Print* and *Possibilities*. The *Print* panel contains the information that will be printed. You can add items by dragging and dropping them from the *Possibilities* panel, or remove them by dragging them back.

## How to export QR codes for print

Select any number of QR codes you want to print by checking the corresponding checkboxes in the *List* tab and click the :print: button in the upper-left corner of the screen.

A pop-up window appears, displaying the list of QR codes ready for export together with a preview of their format.:

**Default tab after scanning QR**

This setting should be configured before printing the QR codes, as it determines the default page or function opened when a QR code assigned to the resource is scanned.

If [automatic redirection](https://cue.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TAM/pages/468975633/Navigation#After-scanning-the-QR-code%2C-force-redirection-to-the-CUE-Navigation-application) to CUE Navigation is not configured, the information is displayed in CUE Assist, depending on the current configuration.

Click the :printlong: button to download the *qr_codes.zip* file containing the QR codes for printing.

### Standard for Printing QR Codes

- QR codes must comply with the international **ISO/IEC 18004 **standard.
- Recommendations for printing and using QR codes (best practices to ensure they remain readable) can be found, for example, [here](https://blog.qualitychain.ch/en/qr-code-tutorial-minimum-size-design-and-printing-2023/).

### Basic Recommendations for 3D Printing QR Codes

Our approach is based on a successful implementation where the system was tested in practice and proven to be effective. For QR code installation, A5 information boards were used:

- the space allocated for the QR code and its number measures 11 × 12 cm
- the smallest module (square) measures 2 × 2 mm
- the quiet zone around the QR code is four times the size of the smallest module (in this case, 0.8 cm)
- the QR code itself measures 9 × 9 cm (10.6 × 10.6 cm including the quiet zone)
- placing a logo inside the QR code is possible, but it must remain within the area marked in red in the image below
