## How to create a navigation point

In *Smart building *→* Areas* select the floor plan where you want to place a new navigation point. In the *Editor* tab, click the :editmode: button to switch to edit mode.

Select the :navigationpoint: icon (Navigation point) from the toolbar on the left.

Place the navigation point in the desired location by clicking on the floor plan.

Set the properties of the navigation point in the sidebar that appears on the right:

### QR code

- **Each navigation point (POI) must have an assigned QR code!**

- Select an existing QR code from the drop-down menu:
  - A QR code for a resource is typically created during the process of creating or importing the resource.
  - Selecting the given resource from the drop-down menu assigns its QR code to the POI being placed on the map.

- Or create a new QR code:
  - Click the :addnew: button and, in the table that appears, enter the unique name of the new POI. Then save it by clicking the :addselect: button.
  - This option is primarily intended for creating so-called common POIs that are not associated with any resource, such as entrances, exits, elevators, or restrooms.

- Configure advanced POI settings (such as category assignment, map visibility, and others) in *Smart building *→* POIs/QR codes*. More information on POI settings can be found [here](https://cue.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TAM/pages/2405793950).

### License

- Select the appropriate license based on the intended use of the POI. An overview of the available license types and their features can be found <u>[here](https://docs.cuesystem.com/space/LM/923271334/POI+licenses%E2%80%8B)</u>.

### Portals

- A portal is a POI that connects two areas, enabling navigation between them (e.g. stairs or elevators between individual floors). Portals must be defined in pairs - one on each area. During navigation, entering a portal in one area transfers the user to the corresponding portal in the connected area.

- If the POI also serves as a portal, click in the *Portals* field and select the corresponding counterpart from the drop-down menu, i.e. the destination to which the portal leads.

- Both navigation points are then converted into portals. The connection is automatically mirrored in the properties panel of the corresponding navigation point, so the connection only needs to be created for one navigation point.

### Coordinates

- X/Y
  - The coordinates are automatically filled in based on the position of the navigation point on the floor plan.

- Latitude/Longitude
  - Here, you can enter latitude and longitude, if applicable (this option is used when setting up outdoor GPS navigation).

Save the new navigation point by clicking the :save: button.

To change the position of a navigation point, use the:move: icon in the toolbar. This can be done either during POI creation or after it has been placed on the floor plan.
