Paths are used to connect navigation points and to enable navigation between them. Properly defined paths are essential for accurate and efficient route calculation, ensuring that users can move smoothly from their starting point to their target point. Incorrect or incomplete path configuration may result in suboptimal routes or navigation issues.

## How to create a path

In *Smart building *→* Areas* select the floor plan where you want to create a new path. In the *Editor* tab, click the :editmode: button to switch to edit mode.

![image-20260421-075155.png](media://38c383db-ba28-4702-9249-f9d6ced21970)

Select the :path: icon (Navigation path) from the toolbar on the left.

Start creating a path by clicking on the point on the floor plan where the path should begin, then continue clicking in the desired direction.

Each click creates a blue junction. These junctions are used for:

- changing the direction or shape of the path,
- connecting the path to an existing path (by linking a blue junction of one path to a blue junction of another),
- connecting the path to a navigation point (by linking a blue junction to the navigation point).

Finish creating the path or its segment by double-clicking.

> ℹ️ When creating a path, it is recommended to select the **POINTS & PATHS** layer in the top-right corner of the view.

## How to edit an existing path

Make sure you are in edit mode, and select the :edit:icon (Edit) from the toolbar on the left.

Blue and white junctions will be displayed along the path.

The blue junctions are used for (see also above):

- changing the direction or shape of the path,
- connecting the path to an existing path
- connecting the path to a navigation point

There is a white junction between every two blue junctions, and it can be converted into a blue junction by clicking it. It is used for:

- creating a blue junction where one is needed but does not yet exist
- changing the direction or shape of an existing path

To change the shape of a path, click and hold a blue or white junction and drag it to the desired position. The path segment between two blue junctions will be adjusted accordingly.

Right-click a blue junction to remove it from the path. Removing a junction may significantly change the shape of the path, especially if it is a corner junction. In such cases, the path is simplified and directly connects the two adjacent blue junctions.

> ℹ️ Use sufficient zoom to clearly see all junctions.

## How to check paths

For proper navigation functionality, paths must be correctly connected to form a continuous network that enables movement between any points.

By clicking the :colorize: icon (Colorize paths), you can check whether the paths have been created and connected correctly. This function is available in both View and Edit mode.

All connected paths and points are displayed in the same color.

The image above shows a floor plan with two unconnected paths. You can navigate only along paths displayed in the same color. For example, you cannot navigate from the blue point to the yellow point, even though the paths may appear connected.

When zooming in on the section that appears connected but is not, you will see that the paths are not actually connected via blue junctions. To enable navigation across the entire path network, edit the paths and connect the blue junctions of both paths (see the image below).

> ℹ️ The *Colorize Paths* function assigns different random colors each time it is used. The specific color is not important for the verification process - what matters is that all elements of a correctly connected path are displayed in the same color.

## Path parameters

Where applicable, each path can be configured with individual parameters, such as difficulty coefficient or accessibility.

Clicking a path displays its parameters (e.g. accessibility or difficulty). These parameters always apply to the path segment between the points A and B, as defined during path creation. If different sections of a path have different properties, the path should be divided into smaller segments. This allows parameters to be assigned accurately only to the relevant parts of the path.
