Zones are defined sections within a floor plan used to represent and organize resources (such as rooms or parking spaces) or areas (larger structural units such as building floors). They visually outline specific parts of the environment and help provide a clearer understanding of the space. They should ideally reflect the real shape and layout of the corresponding resource or area. Properly defined zones contribute to better orientation, clarity, and overall usability of the system.

## Where Zones appear

- **in CUE Navigation**
  - Zones represent areas or resources on the floor plan, enabling navigation between them.

- **in Cue Assist**
  - When selecting a resource for reservation using the *New Reservation *→* Floorplans* option
  - During the reservation process, in the *Location detail *of the selected resource
  - In navigation, accessible to authenticated users via the *Navigate* option in the side menu.

## How to create a zone as an area

These zones serve as entry points to other floor plans. When selected in navigation, they redirect the user to the corresponding floor plan of the related area (e.g. another floor or section of a building).

In *Smart building *→* Areas* select the area where you want to create the zone. In the *Editor* tab, click the :editmode: button to switch to edit mode.

Select the appropriate tool from the toolbar on the left based on the desired zone shape:

- :rectangle: icon for a Rectangle zone
- :polygonal: icon for a Polygonal zone
- :circle: icon for a Circle zone

Draw the desired zone on the floor plan, and in the sidebar on the right, select the *Area* option and choose the area you want users to be taken to when clicking the zone.

Save the changes by clicking the :save: button.

## How to create a zone as a resource

Resource zones represent specific resources (such as rooms or parking spaces) on the floor plan. They visually define the location and shape of a resource and allow users to interact with it (e.g. view details or make a reservation).

Follow the same steps as in the previous case.

Draw the desired zone on the floor plan, and in the sidebar on the right, select the *Resource* option and choose the resource to be assigned to this zone.

Save the changes by clicking the :save: button.

> ℹ️ When creating a path, it is recommended to select the **ZONES** layer in the top-right corner of the view.
